Product Structure

Grease Arrestor Product Structure

Inlet – The wastewater enters the grease arrestor via the inlet.
Stilling Tube – to ensure the turbulence in the flow is reduced and there is a homogenous flow.
Control or surge device – To reduce the velocity of water to ensure maximum contact time
Outlet – The water separated from food solids and OFGs passes out of here.
Maintenance Accessway – An accessway for maintenance of the grease arrestor
Ventilation – Cross ventilation to prevent trapping of the gases.


Lifting and Tank Handling from Truck
Once the truck arrives:

1. Check condition of the tank to ensure no damage has incurred in Transport. All issues must be photographed and sent to AUSTERE PUMPS for verification.

Lifting procedure:

2. Place Soft Slings around the body of the station
3. Slings to be ¼ from each end
4. Connect two leg chains to slings
5. Ensure that angle of lifting is no less than 60 degrees.
6. Lift and Place on Ground
7. Place tank on ground as the same Position of the truck
8. Ensure that the tank is resting on supports. Ensure that the flanges do not come in to contact with the ground.
9. Ensure that the base of the tank is on soft ground (I.E. grass)

Above Ground Horizontal Installation

1. Surface Requirements
Ensure that the surface that the tank will be installed on is smooth, flat, and designed to support the weight of the tank.

2. Buffer Pads
A buffer pad may be required to be used if there are irregularities in the surface of installation. Locate the tank correctly on the pad

3. Anchoring
Anchor down the system as soon as possible, utilizing proper anchor bolts for the local site calculated and determined by the environmental surrounding conditions (such as wind and seismic conditions).

4. Exterior connections
Install all exterior connections and accessory items (ladders, rails, gauges, control panels) in their correct positions.

5. Relief Overflow Point
The GA is not to be used as a surcharge point. An extra surcharge gully may be required, or a reflux valve installed.

6. Protection Barricades
The protection barricade shall be installed to protect the GA from physical damage.

7. Venting
The high-level vent on the inlet line shall be 100 mm.

8. Access Lid
For above ground or non-pedestrian application, the access lid is 600 mm in diameter and manufactured from high density polyethylene. For all other applications the access lid shall be 600 mm x 600 mm square, cast iron, gas tight, concrete infill and frame. No hold bolts to be used in Sydney Water’s area of operations.

Design Methodology of Austere Pumps Grease Arrestors
The underground tank Design Methodology is based on the use of the above standards as described, where applicable:

ASME RTP-1 is used to formulae the Design of the shell under external soil/groundwater loading is based on design for external collapse.
AS2634 – is used to formulae the design & manufacture and installation of the Penetrations to the stations
AS1546 is used to formulae the design load of soil/groundwater and use for the testing methods applied.
AS1170 is used to formulae the design loads from active loads that the stations are subject to, including the required roof slab design. This standard is also used to formulae the ballast requirements for anti-floatation.
